New Delhi: The month of Shravan, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is considered special this year from religious and astrological point of view. This time during Saavan, two eclipses will occur, one solar eclipse and one lunar eclipse. In such a situation, the question in the minds of many people is whether there will be any ban on worship due to the eclipse and whether the rules of Sutak period will be applicable. Let us know the answer to this question.
When and where will the lunar eclipse occur
According to the calendar, the second and last solar eclipse of the year 2026 will take place on August 12. This will be a total solar eclipse, which will be visible mainly in the Arctic, Greenland, Iceland, Spain and some other countries including Portugal. At the same time, the last partial lunar eclipse of the year will occur on the day of Rakshabandhan on 28th August. This eclipse will be visible in many parts of America, Europe and Africa.
Will Sutak period be valid during eclipse?
According to religious beliefs, the Sutak period of the eclipse is considered effective only when the eclipse is visible at the concerned place. Since both these eclipses of the year 2026 will not be visible in India, their Sutak period will not be valid in the country. This means that devotees do not need to stop their regular puja, chanting, abhishek or other religious rituals.
According to experts, on Mondays of Sawan, Shiva Puja, Rudrabhishek and other religious programs can be performed normally. There is no religious basis for closing the doors of temples or imposing any kind of ban on worship due to the eclipse, because both the eclipses will not be visible in India.
Keep these things in mind during the month of Sawan
However, it is considered auspicious to keep some things in mind during the holy month of Saavan. According to religious traditions, maintain a positive attitude in your mind during this period and avoid unnecessary fear or confusion. Instead of believing in the unconfirmed information being spread on social media about the eclipse, rely only on authentic religious information.
A virtuous life will yield auspicious results
Apart from this, worship of Lord Shiva, chanting mantra, meditation and charity is considered to have special importance in the month of Sawan. Even on the day of eclipse, devotees can help the needy and make virtuous donations as per their faith. According to religious beliefs, doing so brings auspicious results and the spiritual importance of Sawan also remains.
