Tehran. American fighter planes have carried out new air strikes on Qeshm Island in Iran. According to Iran’s Tasnim agency, two explosions were heard on the island. Emergency and security teams have been deployed to assess the damage following the attacks. The US military has also targeted the Iranian port city of Serik, located in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed military operations for the eighth consecutive night. Its purpose is to ensure the safety of merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz and to weaken Iranian forces.

This latest attack comes after the death of two American soldiers in Jordan on Saturday. According to the US military, these soldiers died while defending themselves from Iranian missile and drone attacks. Another American soldier is still missing. A total of 16 American soldiers have died in this conflict since February 28. US President Donald Trump has defended this military operation. He said soldiers have made the supreme sacrifice to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. He expressed grief over the death of soldiers but described this mission as extremely important.

Iran’s supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei said that these attacks have once again proved the disregard for the US President’s signature. Khamenei took power after the assassination of his father. He warned that the Iranian nation and the resistance front will teach America a lesson that will never be forgotten. Khamenei’s military adviser, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, warned that if the US bombing continued, Iran would launch a full-scale offensive. Now Iran will not be limited to just retaliating. According to Iran’s Health Ministry, 50 people have died and more than 500 have been injured since the clashes resumed.

Iran has also intensified retaliatory attacks on American targets in the Gulf region. An oil center and power plant in Kuwait have been targeted, which has been strongly condemned by Kuwait. Bahrain claims to have intercepted Iranian airstrikes, while Iran says it has targeted a US military air base in Bahrain. Fuel tanks at the Al-Azraq US base in Jordan have also been targeted. Jordanian forces shot down 10 Iranian missiles on Saturday. Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz, while the US has imposed a blockade of Iranian ports.
