New Delhi: Another major development has come to light amid the increasing tension between America and Iran in the Middle East. A US soldier was killed while safely detonating an explosive device attached to a downed Iranian drone in northern Iraq. This incident has made the already ongoing military tension more serious. At the same time, continuous retaliatory military action is going on from both America and Iran, due to which the situation in the entire region has become more sensitive.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) informed on Sunday that undisintegrated bombs found in the remains of an Iranian unilateral attack drone downed in northern Iraq on July 18 were being destroyed in a controlled manner. During this time an explosion occurred, in which an American soldier died. CentCom said in a statement issued on social media platform X that this action was being taken to make the area safe. Another soldier has also been injured in the accident. According to officials, his injuries are not serious and his treatment is ongoing.

Death toll in US Army increased

After this latest incident, the number of American soldiers who lost their lives during the current conflict that started on February 28 has increased to 17. The army also said that some unidentified human remains belonging to missing American soldiers were found during a separate operation. At present, experts are engaged in the process of confirming their identity.

Tension increased after the attack in Jordan

This incident in Iraq has come to light at a time when two American military personnel were killed in Jordan during a security operation against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks a day earlier. After these incidents, security arrangements and vigilance have been increased in the entire area. CENTCOM said the identities of the deceased soldiers will not be made public until official notification is given to their families. The Army also reiterated its commitment to respect the privacy of families.

America took action against Iran

After the incidents in Jordan, America launched a military operation against Iran. According to the US Army, the purpose of these attacks was to target those Iranian military units, which are believed to be responsible for the attacks on American soldiers. CentCom said that the purpose of these attacks was to damage military bases and resources associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), so that such attacks could be prevented in the future.

Iran also retaliated

Just hours after the US action, Iran retaliated and claimed to have carried out drone attacks on two US military bases in Kuwait. According to the Iranian military, the ammunition depot at Camp Udairi and the Patriot radar system at Ali Al Salem Air Base were targeted. On the other hand, Bahrain’s army said that it stopped many air strikes carried out by Iran in time. The army claims that in these attacks an attempt was made to target civilian areas as well.

Vigilance increased in Jordan and Kuwait also

In Jordan, joint Israeli and Jordanian security forces shot down an Iranian missile heading towards Aqaba port midway. In view of the missile threat, sirens were also sounded in the area. At the same time, Kuwait’s Electricity Ministry said that one of its electricity and sea water sweetening plants was attacked for the second consecutive day. Due to this attack, a fire broke out there, however, relief and rescue teams soon brought the situation under control.

Israel is accelerating military preparations

Amidst the increasing tension, Israel has also started strengthening its military preparations. A senior Israeli military official said that the US is preparing to deploy additional aerial refueling aircraft in the area. This indicates that if needed, the scope of the military operation can be further increased. Although the official clarified that Israel is not directly involved in the recent US attacks at this time, but defense cooperation between the two countries continues.

Khamenei’s warning to America

Meanwhile, Iran’s supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei has warned that if America continues the attacks, it will have to face serious consequences. He said that Iran is not going to bow down to any military pressure. Khamenei also completely rejected the agreement signed by US President Donald Trump, calling it ineffective and invalid. After his statement, it has become clear that instead of decreasing, the tension between the two countries seems to be increasing.
