Spain’s goalkeeper Unai Simon was awarded the Golden Glove Award as the best goalkeeper of the tournament. Simon played brilliantly throughout the tournament as a wall under the goalpost and kept clean sheets in 7 out of 8 matches. He created a new record of not conceding any goal for 650 consecutive minutes in the World Cup, which helped Spain a lot in becoming the champion.
Spain’s 19-year-old young defender Pau Quibarsi was awarded the FIFA Best Young Player Award. This young center-back from Barcelona spent full minutes on the field without any break in every match of the championship for Spain. His amazing self-confidence and defensive skills were seen at such a young age.
