North Arlington Mayor Daniel H. Pronti later confirmed via social media that a shooting had occurred near 14 Ridge Road.
According to reports from local media, Mayor Pronti indicated that a U-Haul vehicle might have been involved in the incident. He expressed optimism that the North Arlington Police Department (NAPD) would soon apprehend one or more suspects. The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office was also present at the scene, suggesting that the investigation had escalated beyond the local police's jurisdiction.

Prior to the mayor's announcement, residents took to social media to share their observations of the extensive law enforcement presence in North Arlington. Several witnesses reported hearing a series of gunshots followed by police units racing towards Ridge Road from nearby areas. One resident noted that around 43 police vehicles were seen passing through shortly after the shooting was reported. Another witness mentioned that over 30 police cars were observed heading towards the scene, with ambulances and emergency responders arriving within minutes of the gunfire.
Social media activity also hinted that two individuals might have been injured during the incident. An eyewitness claimed that one victim sustained a gunshot wound to the neck, while another person was also hurt before a vehicle allegedly sped away towards Belleville. However, authorities have not yet confirmed the number of victims or the specifics of their injuries.
