New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday urged lawmakers to ensure a productive Monsoon Session of Parliament, calling for meaningful debates based on facts while highlighting India’s economic growth and achievements in the space sector.

During his remarks, he also took a veiled swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying he was “not talking about a 56-year-old youth” while praising the young team behind Skyroot Aerospace’s Vikram-1 mission.

Addressing the media ahead of the session, Modi said India’s young innovators were taking the country to new heights and cited the successful launch of Skyroot Aerospace’s Vikram-1 as an example of the nation’s growing scientific capabilities.

PM Praises India’s Young Innovators

The Prime Minister said the average age of the Skyroot team was just 28 years, describing their achievement as a reflection of the limitless aspirations of India’s youth.

“I am not speaking of a 56-year-old youth,” Modi remarked, in an apparent reference to Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi.

He said India’s recent achievements in science and technology had enhanced the country’s global standing and demonstrated the strength of its young talent.

Calls for Constructive Debate

Modi appealed to Members of Parliament to participate actively in the Monsoon Session and ensure healthy democratic discussions. He said Parliament should be a platform where every viewpoint is heard and where arguments are backed by facts rather than disruptions.

Drawing a comparison between the rainy season and Parliament, the Prime Minister said both should be “proactive and productive” to contribute to the nation’s progress.

India Growing Despite Global Challenges

Referring to ongoing conflicts in West Asia and global economic uncertainty, Modi said India had maintained strong economic momentum, describing the country as one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies.

He also stressed the importance of giving first-time and young MPs adequate opportunities to participate in parliamentary debates. The Monsoon Session, scheduled to continue until August 13, is expected to witness intense discussions as the government pushes several key Bills while the Opposition raises issues including the NEET-UG paper leak, Ram Temple donation controversy and inflation.
