New Delhi: The increasing military tension between Iran and America has once again destabilized the entire West Asia. The continuous attacks and retaliatory actions between the two countries have made the security situation in the region extremely serious. In view of this danger, the Government of India has issued a new travel advisory for its citizens, in which it has been appealed to avoid traveling to Iran for the time being and the Indians present there to go to a safe place as soon as possible.
The Indian Embassy in Tehran said in an advisory issued on Sunday that incidents of violence and instability have increased in Iran in recent times. In such circumstances any type of travel can be risky. The Embassy clearly said that Indian citizens who are planning to go to Iran for any reason should postpone their travel for the time being. It has been advised not to travel until the security situation improves.
Appeal to Indians present in Iran to leave soon
The Embassy has urged Indian citizens living in Iran to leave as soon as possible using available commercial flights. Officials say that the current situation is changing rapidly and it is important to reach a safe place in time. The Indian Mission is continuously monitoring the situation and is in touch to provide necessary assistance to the citizens.
What should people do who can’t go out?
The Embassy has also issued guidelines for those Indians who are not able to leave Iran at present. They have been advised to be extremely cautious and keep an eye on every new development. In particular, people have been asked to stay away from the southern coastal areas of Iran, because the security risk there is said to be high. Also, emphasis has been laid on following all the safety instructions issued by the local administration.
Advice on registering with the embassy
The Indian Embassy has asked all Indian citizens to share their contact details with the Embassy and register. This will make it easier to provide assistance in case of emergency. Apart from this, it has been advised to regularly check the updates issued on the official website and social media accounts of the embassy.
Tension continues for eight days
This advisory of India has come at a time when military activities have increased continuously between Iran and America for the last eight days. Both countries are accusing each other of violating the ceasefire. America has attacked Iranian targets for several consecutive days. In response, Iran launched drone and missile attacks targeting US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain.
The effect of regional tension is also visible on neighboring countries. The Jordanian army said it shot down three Iranian missiles that entered its airspace. It is clear from this that the scope of the conflict is not limited to only two countries. According to Iran’s Health Ministry, many people have died and a large number of people have been injured in the recent American attacks. On the other hand, America has also confirmed that two of its soldiers have been killed in the recent military action.
India’s concern increased
The continuously worsening situation in West Asia has also become a matter of concern for India, because a large number of Indian citizens live and work in this region. The priority of the government at present is to ensure the safety of its citizens and provide them with necessary information on time. The Embassy has once again reiterated that Indian citizens should avoid unnecessary travel, rely on official information and contact the Embassy immediately in case of any emergency.
