She said football has taken up most of his time since he returned from the World Cup, even though he still calls her regularly. Sharing how their relationship has changed after his marriage, she said:

“I was number one in his life, and now his wife has become number one, and I’ve become number two. I wanted to see him after the World Cup, but he still hasn’t made time for me. I called him and said, ‘Okay, should I come to the celebration at the stadium to see you?’ He told me, ‘It’ll be a hassle for you!’”

She also explained that she understands the demands of professional football and is happy to see her son succeed, but she still hopes to meet him once his celebrations and football commitments are over. Her interview was first aired on Sabaya El Kheir before clips from it began circulating online.
