Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed on Monday that two oil tankers were hit by explosions in the southern Strait of Hormuz, rendering both ships inoperable. According to the IRGC, both tankers were attempting to use an unsafe southern route through the Strait of Hormuz.
The IRGC alleged that the US military had instigated these ships to pass through this route. The organization said that as long as America’s aggressive activities continue in the region, this waterway will not remain safe.
IRGC warned
The IRGC said in its statement that this route would not be safe for the movement of petrochemical products, oil and gas. The US Army has also been warned to be prepared for a punishing operation.
No independent confirmation of incident
However, this incident has not yet been independently confirmed. The IRGC statement did not provide the names of the tankers, their flag countries, the number of crew or any information about loss of life or property.
