There was a strong uproar by the opposition in the Lok Sabha, MPs reached the Speaker’s seat; Kharge raised the issue of Jantar Mantar lathi charge in Rajya Sabha

Knews DeskOn Monday, the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament, the opposition opened a front against the government on the issue of NEET paper leak and theft of Ram temple offerings. Opposition MPs in the Lok Sabha raised slogans demanding discussion on both the matters. The uproar increased so much that some MPs reached near the Speaker’s chair, after which the proceedings of the House were adjourned till 12 noon.

As soon as the Lok Sabha proceedings began, opposition parties started demanding answers from the government regarding the issue of NEET paper leak and offerings to Ayodhya Ram temple. The MPs protested showing placards and demanded an immediate discussion on the matter.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla appealed to the members to maintain the dignity of the House. He said that the Parliament will be given the opportunity to discuss issues to the public as per the rules. He termed sloganeering and waving placards as not in accordance with the tradition of the House.

Government trying to suppress the voice of students

At the same time, in Rajya Sabha, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge raised the issue of alleged lathi charge during the students’ demonstration at Jantar Mantar. He said that this is a matter to the future of the students and a large number of students have taken to the streets with their demands.

Kharge alleged that the government was trying to suppress the voice of the students and end the movement. After his statement, an uproar also started in the Rajya Sabha, due to which the proceedings of the House were adjourned till 12 noon.

Answer sought on paper leak and offering theft

Congress had already indicated before the monsoon session that it is preparing to corner the government on many issues including NEET paper leak, theft of Ram temple offerings. The party has demanded accountability in paper leak cases and strict action against the culprits.

Monsoon session of Parliament will continue till August 13

The monsoon session of Parliament will start from July 20 and continue till August 13. During this period the government can introduce many important bills. At the same time, the opposition has made it clear that it will continue to demand answers from the government in the House on issues to public interest.
