CJP Parliament March: Samajwadi Party MPs Dimple Yadav, Dharmendra Yadav Detained; Calls Action ‘Undemocratic’

New Delhi: The Samajwadi Party (SP) on Monday claimed that its Lok Sabha MP Dimple Yadav and several other party MPs were detained by Delhi Police while participating in a protest in support of students in the national capital.

In a post on concerns. The party also condemned the alleged baton charge on protesters, describing the police action as “highly condemnable and undemocratic.”

“The detention of Lok Sabha MP Dimple Yadav and other Samajwadi Party MPs by police while they were raising the voice of students in Delhi, along with the police baton charge on students, is highly condemnable and undemocratic,” the party said in its statement.

Dimple Yadav Joined CJP’s Chalo Sansad March

In another post, the SP alleged that the BJP government was responsible for the alleged use of force against students and criticized the police action during the protest.

Earlier in the day, Dimple Yadav had joined the CJP’s “Sansad Chalo” protest at Jantar Mantar along with other Samajwadi Party MPs. Speaking to reporters, she said students across the country wanted their concerns to be heard and accused the government of ignoring issues affecting youth, farmers and the environment.

“We want the voices of students to be heard. Students are demanding fair examinations, but this government supports neither fair examinations nor fair elections,” she said. There was no immediate official statement from Delhi Police regarding the Samajwadi Party’s claim of detention.
