Accident happened while hiking

According to information received from the local administration and Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Captain Spencer Long’s family had gone out for trekking and hiking on Friday. They had arrived at Sunglow Campground near Bicknell, Utah, where they began their daylong journey.

Officials believe that due to heavy rains in the hilly area the water level suddenly rose and the family got trapped in it.

After receiving information about the accident, police and rescue teams launched an intensive search operation. On Friday night, the police first found the body of a youth, after which by Saturday the bodies of four other family members were also recovered.

The deceased have been identified as Captain Spencer Long, his wife Katrina and their three sons Reed, Thayne and Gage. One daughter of the family did not go on this journey, due to which she is safe.

The Provo Fire Department has expressed its deep sorrow over the passing of its brave officer via social media. The department said in its message that the loss of Captain Long and his family is an irreparable loss. At the same time, Katrina Long’s sister organization ‘Summit Medical Spa’ has also described this incident as unbearable.

Family friends have launched a ‘Go Fund Me’ campaign to help their daughter who escaped unharmed. A page has also been started, where people are remembering this generous and loving family.

Meteorological Department’s next warning

America’s National Weather Service (NWS) has issued serious warnings for the coming days. According to the department, ‘Tropical Depression Two’ Strengthening could lead to tropical storm-like conditions in the Florida Panhandle by Monday night.
