Knews Desk- The government’s decision to paint all 551 model schools in the state in saffron color is being questioned not only by the opposition but also by BJP’s ally JDU. In fact, the name of model schools in Bihar has been changed to Saraswati Vidya Niketan (Class 9 to 12), which was formally inaugurated by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary in a program organized in Begusarai on Sunday.

All schools painted in saffron color

All these schools have now been painted with saffron color instead of the existing pink, sky blue, blue or yellow colour. Along with the opposition, JDU is also opposing this decision of the government. Opposition parties have criticized this move and termed it as the beginning of saffronisation of education.

JDU expressed protest

JDU has also expressed objection regarding this. JDU spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said that changing the color does not guarantee the right to education. It is important that children get quality education. Apart from this, if the names of the men who donated their land come down in the stone slab, then it is also a matter of respect for the ancestors. Actually, before this no special instructions were given regarding the color of the school. Yellow, pink or sky blue colors were used. The choice of color was left to the discretion of the headmaster. However, most of the schools were painted pink. Earlier the school used to get it done from its own funds, but now it has been done by the department.

The person who donated land for the school is also angry

According to the new instructions of the Education Department, in view of uniformity in all modern schools, it has been decided to paint the outer walls in saffron color. The inner walls of the classroom should be white and the main gate should be painted in light yellow or golden color. The families of those schools whose land was donated by some person and the school was in his name are also said to be angry over the renaming of all the schools to ‘Saraswati Vidya Niketan’. However, his name has not been removed, Saraswati Vidya Niketan has been added before his name. JDU has also raised questions regarding this.
