India-Moldova Trade: Indian President Draupadi Murmu visits Moldova, agrees to increase trade-investment

Kishnaw. India and Moldova have agreed to promote bilateral trade and investment, strengthen supply chains and improve connectivity. Indian President Draupadi Murmu, who is on a visit to Moldova, held extensive talks with Moldovan President Maya Sandu on Monday. During this, various aspects of relations between the two countries were reviewed.

President Murmu said that economic cooperation is an important foundation of India-Moldova relations. He said both the countries have agreed to increase trade and investment, strengthen supply chains, improve connectivity and enhance cooperation between the business communities.

He said that organizing the India-Moldova Business Forum will play an important role in giving new impetus to the economic relations between the two countries. Both sides also agreed to enhance cooperation in areas such as agriculture, logistics and infrastructure, health, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, digital public infrastructure, artificial intelligence (AI) and innovation.

Describing his visit as historic, President Murmu said that it reflects the growing friendship and mutual trust between India and Moldova. He said the two countries have enjoyed cordial relations for more than three decades, based on shared values ​​of peace, development and international cooperation.

There are around 2,000 Indian nationals living in Moldova, including around 1,800 medical students. Moldova has emerged as a major foreign education hub for Indian students.

President Murmu informed that India has decided to double the number of slots available under the ITEC training program for professionals from Moldova. It will also include special courses to artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.

During the talks, the two leaders also exchanged views on regional and global issues. Both countries reiterated their commitment to peace, dialogue and respect for international law.

President Murmu said that India and Moldova will continue to work together to address common global challenges and build a peaceful, stable and prosperous world. The visit is part of President Murmu’s tour to three European countries, aimed at further strengthening cooperation in trade, technology, tourism and other sectors.
