Prince Harry came in defence of English team’s manager Thomas Tuchel after he received backlash.
Tuchel was criticsed for the defensive strategy applied against Argentina in the Semi Final which the English side lost despite dominating most of the game.
The Duke of Sussex made an appearance on James Corden’s Fox Sports show for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which was won by Spain on Sunday, July 19.
Commenting on the loss, he said they were tempted “to fall into defence”.
“I think what we saw was a slight shock value for them. ‘S**t, we are 1-0 up against Argentina’ and there was this immediate temptation to fall into defence.”
Defending Tuchel, he said “I don’t think it was a tactic. I don’t think that was the plan. It just happened. After 72-73 minutes, whatever it was, you can’t just defend a 1-0 lead against a team like that.”
In his appearance, Harry also spoke about his younger days playing football in UK.
Harry revealed he was too good at playing “football” when he was at junior school.
