Actor Gautami Kapoor has stepped forward to defend her husband, Ram Kapoor, following days of online backlash over his conduct on Lock Upp 2. In a video posted to Instagram, she asked viewers not to judge Ram based on edited footage from the reality show, while addressing the growing wave of criticism that had labeled him sleazy after co-contestant Shreya Kalra accused him of overstepping personal boundaries. Gautami said the backlash had begun affecting their family and appealed for greater consideration from the public.

In her video, Gautami explained that she had initially chosen not to comment on the show but felt compelled to speak up after days of mounting online criticism directed at her husband. She addressed viewers directly, stating she wanted to speak on Ram’s behalf given the intensity of the backlash he had received.
Responding to comments labeling Ram as “sleazy,” Gautami said that while she wasn’t excusing his personality, she wanted people to understand that his behavior reflected who he genuinely is, someone she described as fundamentally warm-hearted. She noted that Ram had entered the show without any calculated strategy, and that what audiences were seeing was simply his authentic self.
She also questioned the timing of the backlash, pointing out that if Ram’s conduct had genuinely been inappropriate, his fellow contestants would likely have raised objections earlier, given that the group had already been living together for four to five weeks without incident-related complaints.

She concluded her message with an appeal for compassion, noting that online criticism directed at contestants inevitably affects their families as well, before expressing her support for her husband directly.
