The Delhi High Court has instructed both the medical team from Safdarjung Hospital and activist Sonam Wangchuk to submit their medical reports by 12:30 PM tomorrow. This order was issued after the bench raised significant concerns regarding the video documentation of the medical examination of the fasting activist. The directive came during a joint hearing of high-profile petitions related to youth and climate protests at Jantar Mantar.

During the proceedings, Subhash Chandran KR, representing former JNU student union president Aishe Ghosh in a public interest litigation against the Delhi Police's "illegal surveillance," informed the court that the Solicitor General has been directed to review crucial Supreme Court rulings on privacy, ensuring that both cases can be heard together tomorrow.

The bench highlighted the tension between the hospital administration and the activist, questioning the legal basis for recording private medical examinations. "We represent Aishe Ghosh, the petitioner in the Delhi High Court... Our case pertains to illegal surveillance by the Delhi Police," he stated. In Wangchuk's case, the court has ordered both the Delhi Police and Wangchuk's lawyer to bring their doctors to court by 12:30 PM tomorrow. The court inquired whether Wangchuk was cooperating with the administration or the medical examination. A doctor present in court indicated that Wangchuk was not cooperating during the video recording of her medical tests. The court then asked, 'Why are you recording her medical tests?' Both parties, Safdarjung Hospital and Sonam Wangchuk, are required to submit reports to the court tomorrow.

In my case related to Aishe Ghosh, the court has instructed the Solicitor General to examine previous Supreme Court decisions regarding privacy issues. Therefore, the hearing for Wangchuk's case will also take place tomorrow at 12:30 PM.

The dual legal challenges have brought the Delhi Police's methods of monitoring protests under scrutiny. Earlier on Monday, Saurav Das, the spokesperson for the Cockroach People's Party (CJP), mentioned that he met with Union Health Minister JP Nadda and presented three demands. These include the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and compensation of 1 crore rupees for families of NEET candidates, among whom "more than 20 lives have been lost." He also stated that activist Sonam Wangchuk, currently hospitalized, should be "immediately released."
