Along with the possibility of merger between Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar factions, discussions are also going on regarding entry in NDA. However, due to lack of consensus regarding leadership and control over the organization, the path for the two groups to come together seems difficult.

Knews Desk- The stir in Maharashtra politics regarding Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has intensified. According to sources, internal talks are going on regarding Sharad Pawar faction joining NDA and possible merger of both NCP factions. However, the biggest challenge at the moment is to reach a consensus between the two camps regarding leadership.

It is being told that there are differences regarding coordination between Sunetra Pawar and Supriya Sule from the Ajit Pawar group. Sunetra Pawar camp is not in favor of immediate merger. His concern is that if both the groups unite, then Supriya Sule’s influence on the party organization and decisions may gradually increase.

Differences regarding leadership and organization

According to sources, different opinions are emerging even within the Ajit Pawar faction. On one hand, the camp of Sunetra Pawar and Parth Pawar is said to be active, while on the other hand, leaders like Sunil Tatkare and Praful Patel are working on a different strategy.

It is being said that Sunetra Pawar wants her role to be strong in important decisions to the command and organization of the party in Maharashtra. Apart from this, they also have some demands regarding distribution of ministries and organizational appointments in the government. Due to lack of consensus on these issues, merger talks are not progressing.

Separate entry option in NDA

Apart from merger, another option is also under discussion. According to sources, if the delimitation bill comes in Parliament, the Sharad Pawar faction can support it with some conditions. After this, after the end of the Parliament session, NCP (Sharad Pawar) can be included in the NDA as a separate ally.

Under this strategy, first support on issues and later formal announcement of alliance can be adopted. However, no official statement has come yet from both the groups on this.

NCP-SP’s stance on delimitation bill

Maharashtra State President of NCP (Sharad Pawar) Shashikant Shinde has made the party’s stand clear regarding the Delimitation Bill. He said that if this bill is brought keeping in mind women’s reservation and women’s interests and there is no intention of political gain, then the party can consider it.

He said that the final decision will be taken by party MP Supriya Sule, but before that there will be a discussion within the organization and the stand will be decided only after a collective decision.

Shinde group also gave indications

Maharashtra government minister and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leader Sanjay Shirsat said that at present the possibility of merger of the two NCP factions together seems unlikely. He claimed that the conditions of both the parties are different and it is not easy to reach an agreement.

He said that if Sharad Pawar faction comes to NDA then it can join in a different way, but it seems difficult for both the factions to come together.

Supriya Sule denies merger discussions

At the same time, NCP (Sharad Pawar) working president Supriya Sule has also made it clear that at present no talks are going on regarding the merger. He said that before the death of Ajit Pawar, there was a discussion between the two groups regarding the merger and if he had lived for some more time then perhaps a decision could have been taken on it.

In the politics of Maharashtra, now the focus is on how Sharad Pawar faction becomes a part of NDA. Whether both the NCP factions will come together or reach the power alliance through different paths, will become clear in the coming days.
