West Zone team for Duleep Trophy 2026 has been announced. Ruturaj Gaikwad has been given the command of the team. 29 year old Rituraj plays for Maharashtra in domestic cricket. His Maharashtra team teammates Prithvi Shaw and Mukesh Chaudhary have also been selected in the West Zone team. Prithvi earlier played for Mumbai team but after being kept out continuously, he joined Maharashtra last year.
The selection committee headed by Mumbai Chief Selector Rajesh Pawar announced the 15-member team on Monday. West Zone will face North Zone in the quarter-final 2 of Duleep Trophy from August 23 to 26.
Shardul was the captain in Duleep Trophy 2025
West Zone was captained by Shardul Thakur in the last Duleep Trophy. Shardul is included in the team this time too but he has not been given the vice-captaincy. Shams Mulani has been made Rituraj’s deputy.
The upcoming Duleep Trophy starts from 23rd August. All the matches of this prestigious tournament of Indian domestic cricket will be played at BCCI’s Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. There will be a total of five matches in the Duleep Trophy, including the final which will be played from September 6 to 10.
Sarfaraz-Musheer also selected
Both brothers Sarfaraz Khan and Musheer Khan have been included in the West Zone team. Apart from him, Tanush Kotian and Tushar Deshpande from Mumbai have also been selected for Duleep Trophy. Shivalik Sharma and Atit Seth have also been elected from Baroda. Urvil Patel, who plays for Gujarat team, and Harvik Desai of Saurashtra have been selected as wicketkeepers.
