Dumka Liquor Black Marketing: Jharkhand Government Excise and Prohibition Minister Yogendra Prasad held an important review meeting in Dumka. In this meeting, he gave very strict instructions to the officers regarding the functioning of the department. The minister clearly said that the excise department is often surrounded by controversies, hence now irregularities will not be tolerated at any level. He asked the officials to stop black marketing of liquor at all costs and work responsibly to fill the government coffers. Along with increasing the revenue, the minister also talked about completing water schemes on time.

Big target of raising revenue of Rs 4600 crore

During the meeting, Minister Yogendra Prasad presented the roadmap of the department for the financial year 2026-27. He said that this year the department has set a big target of collecting revenue of Rs 4600 crore. To achieve this huge target, all the officers will have to work with complete honesty and dedication. He clarified that achieving this goal is possible only by stopping tax evasion and strictly following government rules. Major action can be taken against any officer who is negligent in this work.

Warning to officials of 6 districts of Santhal Pargana

In this meeting, the Minister organized a class for the officers of all the six districts falling under Santhal Pargana Division. While warning the excise officials of Dumka, Deoghar, Jamtara, Pakur, Godda and Sahibganj, he said that they should come to the field and work. Just sitting in the office and doing paperwork will not work. He directed that officers should visit their respective areas regularly. Wherever illegal liquor is being manufactured, stored or sold, raids should be conducted immediately and the culprits should be sent to jail.

Big update on Ganga Jal Yojana and Jal Jeevan Mission

While reviewing the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department, Minister Yogendra Prasad shared a big information. He told that the work on the plan to deliver Ganga water to the people of Jharkhand through pipeline is progressing very fast. Along with this, he targeted the Central Government and said that due to lack of money from the Central Government in Jal Jeevan Mission, many important schemes of the state were lying incomplete for a long time.

Due money will speed up development work

The minister said that our department has a total outstanding of Rs 6500 crore with the central government. Out of this huge dues, the state government has received an amount of Rs 116 crore about ten days ago. After receiving this fund, the now stalled development works will gain momentum. He ordered senior officials of the drinking water department to properly implement the schemes on the ground. If negligence is found in any project, then direct legal action will be taken not only against the district level officials but also against the contractors doing the work.

Targeted at opposition on SIR issue

While talking to journalists after the meeting, Minister Yogendra Prasad fiercely attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party on the issue of SIR. He said that the process of SIR happens many times, but this time BJP is deliberately creating an atmosphere of fear regarding this issue. Accusing the opposition, he said that like in West Bengal and Bihar, BJP also wants to take some political advantage in Jharkhand on this pretext. He made it clear that the people of the state are understanding everything and the stand of our government is very clear that the name of any genuine citizen should not be left out and the name of any wrong person should not be added in it.
