In a note written from her hospital bed, Sonam Wangchuk said, “Today is the 23rd day of my hunger strike. Seeing the brutality with which the peaceful protesting youth are being treated, I have decided to continue my hunger strike until the youth leaders are allowed to meet the MPs in Parliament House or I am allowed to visit them in the hospital.”

He further wrote, “I am very impressed that the youth maintained their calm despite the provocative incident. I appeal to the government and the police to address the issue directly by giving the students an opportunity to present their demands before Parliament today or tomorrow.”

Clashes on the streets of Delhi

On the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament, thousands of protesters marched towards Parliament House demanding accountability for the NEET-UG paper leak and the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
