David Lammy Resignation UK: After the change of power in Britain, the formation of a new government has started. Andy Burnham took over as the country’s new Prime Minister following the resignation of former Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Britain’s Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy resigned from his post on Monday amid the formation of a new cabinet.
Lammy said that the new Prime Minister has every right to choose the team of his choice. Lammy assured that he would continue to support the Labor Party and the government as an MP. He said it had been a matter of pride for him to leave Tottenham and serve as Foreign Secretary, Justice Secretary and the first black Deputy Prime Minister.
What did David Lammy say on his resignation?
David Lammy said that as Foreign Secretary he worked on many important issues. According to him, after Brexit, efforts were made to strengthen Britain’s relations with European countries. He also mentioned support for Ukraine, expanding partnerships with countries in the Global South, steps taken towards recognizing Palestine as a state, and efforts to strengthen ties with the US, India and the Gulf countries. He said that the purpose of these steps was to strengthen Britain’s security and economic interests.
In his statement, David Lammy also mentioned the work he did as Justice Secretary. He said record investment was made in the courts to reduce the number of pending cases. Apart from this, work was also done on improving the prison system, strengthening probation services and providing additional resources for crime victims. He also said that initiatives were also taken towards increasing diversity in the judiciary and promoting the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Justice Ministry.

Will continue political role as MP
David Lammy said that he wanted to continue working in the cabinet, but after the formation of a new government, the Prime Minister has every right to choose his team. He wished Prime Minister Andy Burnham and his new cabinet all the best. Also said that he will now represent the people of Tottenham as a backbench MP and will continue to support the Labor government. He also said that he will work with all his might to ensure the party’s victory in the next general elections and defeat the Reform Party.
