Bharatiya Janata Party has intensified preparations for the Punjab Assembly elections to be held early next year. The party has announced to contest elections on all 117 seats and now PM Modi himself has tried to strengthen the party by holding a rally. PM Modi came to Jalandhar in Punjab on July 17 to launch railway projects. Here he also addressed a BJP rally in which he prepared the pitch for the 2027 elections.

In this rally, PM Modi attacked all the political parties including Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, Shiromani Akali Dal. Political experts are officially considering this rally of PM Modi as the beginning of BJP’s campaign for Punjab elections. BJP is contesting this second assembly election after separating from Shiromani Akali Dal and this time the party has decided to enter the electoral fray alone.

Important points of PM Modi

PM Modi cornered the present Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab. Attacking the issue of law and order and drugs, he said that drug addiction is at its peak, it is difficult to do business in the state and there is no guarantee of when and where bullets will be fired. PM Modi even said that even police stations are not safe in Punjab.

Attacking the Aam Aadmi Party, the PM said that the Aam Aadmi Party is a staunchly dishonest party and the Punjab government is enjoying by taking loans. Along with this, party leaders have also been accused of taking bribe.

On the Punjab government’s plan to give money to women, the PM said that along with farmers, women have also been cheated and Rs 50,000 should have been deposited in the women’s accounts by now.

Targeted at Congress-Akali

The Congress party in Punjab is facing turmoil these days. Taking a dig at this, PM Modi said that Congress is embroiled in a fight for the chair. Their aim is not to work for Punjab but to decide who will sit on the chair. Along with this, the PM targeted his ally Akali Dal and said that Shiromani Akali Dal is also not able to come out of its problems. Along with this, PM even called Akali Dal selfish.

How was the pitch prepared for the 2027 elections?

This visit of PM Modi was not just an administrative visit but an attempt to prepare the pitch for the upcoming assembly elections. By holding a rally in Jalandhar, the PM tried to give a message to the people of the state and said that there is a need for a BJP government in Punjab. PM said that only BJP government can develop Punjab. Today when I have come to Jalandhar, I will say one thing to the youth. I have full faith in the youth of Punjab. Punjab is a sports oriented state and the PM mentioned the Khelo India Policy for the players.

PM has made his second visit in 6 months to Doaba, the stronghold of Dalit politics. Along with this, in both these visits the PM tried to woo the Ravidassia community which has the largest population among the Dalits. The PM had visited Dera Sachkhand Ballan, the largest camp of the Ravidassia community, in February. After this, during this tour, the PM met the Dera chief in the train going from Jalandhar to Varanasi. This camp has a lot of influence in the Doaba region and the train from Jalandhar to Varanasi also becomes important because Varanasi is the birthplace of Guru Ravidas.

Emphasis on Maharaja Ranjit Singh Raj

In this rally of PM Modi, Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon handed over the photo of Maharaj Ranjit Singh to PM Modi. Maharaja Ranjit Singh is considered a symbol of Sikh rule and is known as a strong ruler in Punjab. Only Singh Dhillon talks about bringing the rule of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Through this picture, BJP has tried to give a message to the people of Punjab that if BJP government is formed in Punjab, the governance will be on the lines of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s rule. BJP seems to be moving ahead in the election field by keeping Maharaja Ranjit Singh in front.

After Bengal, eye on Punjab

Punjab has still remained an impenetrable fort for the Bharatiya Janata Party. For a few months, West Bengal was also a similar fort for BJP, but now BJP has won Bengal. After this, now BJP’s eyes are on Punjab and Amit Shah himself is making a strategy to form the government here. Amit Shah has clearly said that now the next government in Punjab will be formed by Bharatiya Janata Party. However, it is finding it very difficult for BJP to form government in Punjab and BJP leaders also know this but the workers also have faith in Amit Shah’s strategy.
