Electric SUV: Swedish luxury car manufacturer Volvo is going to launch its flagship electric SUV EX90 in the Indian market on August 19. The EX90, launched globally in 2022, was the company’s first electric SUV built on Geely’s SPA2 platform. It is the third full electric car in Volvo’s lineup and is seen as an all-electric alternative to the popular XC90.

SUV will come with 6 and 7-seater layout
In global markets, the Volvo EX90 is offered with a three-row seating layout as standard. Buyers can opt for 6-seater or 7-seater configuration as per their need. Which option will be available in India will be officially confirmed at the time of launch.

Volvo’s signature style will be found in the design
Talking about design, the look of EX90 seems to be largely inspired by Volvo EX30. At its front, Volvo’s ‘Iron Mark’ logo is given on the body-colour closed grille. The SUV gets T-shaped LED daytime running lights, projector headlights, sleek front bumper and vertical fog lamps.

Volvo’s clean design language is seen in the side profile, while at the rear, the split LED taillights and C-shaped light signature give it a modern look.

Premium and hi-tech cabin
The interior of Volvo EX90 is based on minimalist design. The dashboard features a 14.5-inch portrait touchscreen, which handles infotainment and most of the vehicle’s controls.

It has the support of Google Built-in, 5G connectivity, OTA update, Unreal Engine based interface, NVIDIA Drive System and Snapdragon Cockpit Platform. Apart from this, a separate digital instrument cluster has also been provided for the driver.

Powerful battery and powertrain
The Volvo EX90 is offered in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) options in the international market.

RWD variant: 92 kWh battery, 245 kW power and 470 Nm torque
AWD variants: two options with 106 kWh battery
Standard AWD: 335 kW power and 670 Nm torque
Performance AWD: 500 kW power and 870 Nm torque

Driving range up to 620 KM
According to global specifications, the RWD variant offers a range of up to 565 kilometers on a single charge, while the AWD version can go up to 620 kilometers. However, the final battery and range information of the model to be launched in India is yet to be revealed.

Charge will be from 10 to 80% in 22 minutes
Volvo EX90 supports 350 kW DC fast charging, which takes about 22 minutes to charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent. At the same time, it takes about 11 hours to be fully charged with a 3-phase 16A AC charger.

Which cars will compete with?
The Volvo EX90 is expected to be launched in India as a CBU (Completely Built Unit). After launch, it will compete with Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, BMW iX and other premium luxury electric SUVs.
