Candidates gearing up for the Uttar Pradesh Preliminary Eligibility Test (UP PET) 2026 have received significant news. The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) is preparing to conduct the UP PET 2026 and plans to issue the official notification in August. A key change in this process is the requirement for One-Time Registration (OTR), which is now mandatory for all applicants. The OTR process is currently active, and candidates will be able to apply directly once the UP PET 2026 notification is published. However, only those who have completed the OTR will be eligible to submit their applications.

**UP PET Score and Group 'C' Recruitment**

The UP PET score is crucial for recruitment into Group 'C' positions across various departments managed by UPSSSC. A substantial number of candidates apply for these roles, and eligibility for these recruitment processes is contingent upon the UP PET score, which remains valid for one year.

**Notification Release in August**

UPSSSC conducts the UP PET on an annual basis. Preparations for the 2026 exam are reportedly complete, with the notification expected to be released in August, initiating the application process. The examination is anticipated to take place in October or November, with specific dates to be announced alongside the notification.

**OTR Requirement for Candidates**

The UPSSSC has mandated One-Time Registration (OTR) for all recruitment processes. Candidates intending to take the UP PET 2026 must complete the OTR process, which can be done through the UPSSSC website. This system was introduced to alleviate the need for candidates to register multiple times for different applications; completing the OTR once allows candidates to avoid separate registrations for various recruitment opportunities. The OTR process has already begun, with over 67,000 candidates registering within just five days.

In the previous PET for 2025, 25.32 lakh candidates registered, with 19.42 lakh actually taking the exam. The commission has emphasized that OTR is essential for future PET and other recruitment tests. This explains the rapid registration of 67,225 candidates for OTR in just five days. UPSSSC aims to maximize OTR registrations to ensure the PET notification can be released next month and the exam conducted as scheduled. The commission had previously held the PET for 2025 on September 6–7.
