Patna. Bihar government has taken a big step to make the benefits of government schemes easily available to workers in the unorganized sector and laborers involved in construction work. The state government is now preparing to set up Labor Service Facilitation Center in each district. Through these centres, workers’ registration, renewal and benefits of various welfare schemes will be made available at one place.

Centers will start in 33 new districts by December

At present, Labor Service Facilitation Centers are operating in Patna, Kaimur, Saran, Saharsa and Darbhanga. Now, on the instructions of the Chief Minister, the Labor Resources and Migrant Workers Welfare Department has prepared a proposal to establish such centers in 33 new districts. The government plans to start these centers by December 2026, so that more and more workers in the state can get facilities at the local level.

Many facilities will be available at one place

Many services will be available to the workers simultaneously at the new labor service facility centres. Here online registration, renewal of registration, information about government schemes, application process and assistance in availing benefits will be provided. Apart from this, workers will also be made aware about various welfare schemes, so that eligible beneficiaries can get government assistance on time.

Benefits of social security schemes

The government believes that with the opening of Labor Service Facilitation Center, the need for workers to visit offices will reduce. Along with making the registration process easier, the benefits of accident assistance, maternity benefit, education assistance, medical assistance and other welfare schemes will also reach more number of eligible workers. This initiative is being considered an important step towards the social and economic empowerment of lakhs of laborers of the state.
