The postponed Chardham Yatra has started again on 20th July 2026. The administration is continuously monitoring the travel routes. There is an appeal to the passengers to take information about the weather and in case of obstruction, stop at safe places and follow the instructions.

After necessary review on the yatra routes, Chardham Yatra was temporarily postponed on 20 July 2026 as a precautionary measure, now the yatra has been conducted smoothly again.

Chardham Yatra begins, but appeal to pilgrims

Garhwal Commissioner Shri Anand Swaroop said that the Yatra is being conducted in coordination with the district administration, police, SDRF and related departments of all the districts related to Chardham Yatra. Travel routes are being continuously monitored and special vigilance is being taken in sensitive areas.
He has appealed to the passengers that during the journey, if the travel route is temporarily disrupted at any place due to heavy rain, landslide or other reasons, then they should stay only in the safe places or holding areas designated by the administration and completely follow the instructions issued by the administration and the police. The journey will be proceeded only after the circumstances become normal.
Garhwal Commissioner said that the safety of passengers is the top priority of the administration. All concerned departments have been instructed to continuously monitor the weather conditions and travel routes, so that necessary action can be taken immediately if necessary.
Passengers are requested to get the latest weather information before starting the journey and rely only on the official information issued by the administration.
