New Delhi: A school teacher was found dead under suspicious circumstances on the roadside in Jharkhand’s Chatra district on Tuesday police said. His family has claimed that he was murdered. Police identified the deceased as Mukesh Yadav. His body and motorcycle were found near National Highway 22 in the Ghaghri area under the Vasisthnagar Jori police station.

A police officer said there were no visible signs of a road accident on either the body or the motorcycle making the circumstances of the death suspicious. Angry local residents blocked the highway and demanded proper compensation for the teacher’s family. They also called for the immediate arrest of the person they believe is responsible for his death.

Chatra DSP Headquarters Sunil Kumar Singh said the case does not appear to be a simple road accident at first glance. He said the circumstances are suspicious and police are investigating every possible angle. A dog squad has also been brought in to assist with the investigation.

Police said Mukesh Yadav was working as the vocational trade in charge at a government high school. Officials are examining the teacher’s mobile phone to track his recent movements. They are also closely inspecting the crime scene and questioning local residents as part of the investigation.

Another senior police officer said the exact cause of death will only be confirmed after the post mortem report is received and the investigation is completed. Meanwhile, representatives of the administration reached the road blockade spot to pacify the irate villagers
