BCCI is unlikely to re-appoint Team India's Fielding Coach, T Dilip, before the T20I series against Zimbabwe. The decision is believed to have been made in the backdrop of a decline in India's fielding standards in the past few months.
India's white-ball tour of England has come to a premature end after a series of underwhelming performances. After a series of woeful performances, Shubman Gill led India to lose the ODI series 2-1, after they couldn't chase 388 to win in the last game at Lord's, and after losing 4-0 in the T20I series under Shreyas Iyer.
According to sports journalist Rohit Juglan, Dilip's extended tenure has officially ended, and he will not travel with the team to Zimbabwe.

T Dilip's writing and the fielding in India worry
T Dilip was inducted into the Indian support staff during theRahul Dravid era as the head coach. T made himself instantly popular within the dressing room, popularising the modern-day "Best Fielder Medal" award after every game.
Dilip is the only member from the support staff to be retained after the departure of batting coach Vikram Rathour and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey following India's T20 World Cup 2024 winning campaign. He was subsequently given a 1-year extension post Champions Trophy 2025.
According to some reports, Dilip was about to be booted from his job following the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but Rohit Sharma allegedly pleaded with the India coach-fielding in-charge. Gautam Gambhir to keep him and the Indian team, and he was granted an extension. However, this time, the board seems poised for a shift.
The Indian fielding was the biggest worry during the 2026 T20 World Cup even as the team emerged as champions. Indian team dropped as many as 15 catches during the event, the most by any side, and had a catching efficiency of merely 72 per cent, the lowest among the teams.
These issues first emerged in the Asia Cup held last year and persisted through the recent England tour, where India suffered yet again in the field.

VVS Laxman to guide India in Zimbabwe
India have already arrived in Zimbabwe for a 3-match T20I series starting on 23 rd July. With coach Gautam Gambhir being rested, VVS Laxman will act as stand-in head coach.
Shreyas Iyer will lead the team, and Tilak Varma has been appointed vice-captain. Wicketkeeper Prabhsimran Singh is back in the T20I setup after appearing in the 2023 Asian Games and has been included in the squad.
Duo Mayank Yadav, a fast bowler who returns after two years and debut calls with the national team for Ashok Sharma and Yash Thakur.
The three T20 Internationals will be played at the Harare Sports Club on 23 rd, 25 th and 26 th of July. The timings of the matches will be 4:30 PM IST.
