118 policemen were injured and 70 people were detained in clashes during the CJP movement. Sonam Wangchuk will be admitted to the hospital on the orders of the court. The protesters are again preparing for the Parliament march.
New Delhi: Social activist Sonam Wangchuk, who supported the CJP movement, has been ordered to be shifted to a private hospital by the Delhi High Court. The central government had told the court that it had no objection to shifting Sonam to any hospital. Now he will be admitted to Medanta Hospital. After this decision, Sonam Wangchuk's wife Gitanjali Angmo thanked the court. It was Geetanjali who had filed a petition in the court citing Sonam's deteriorating health.
On the other hand, Delhi Police has detained 70 people in the clash that took place yesterday during the CJP movement. A case has been registered in this violence under several sections including damaging government property. Police say that 118 policemen including 5 IPS officers have been injured in this clash. A special commissioner and several DCPs are also among the injured. According to the police, the protesters also vandalized 20 vehicles. CJP workers again returned to the protest site at night and are continuing their agitation. They are planning to march again to Parliament and will announce it soon. CJP workers are now cleaning the protest site which was destroyed by Delhi Police and are preparing to put up tents again.
Earlier, the police had dispersed the people protesting at Jantar Mantar using lathicharge and tear gas. The police had also demolished the stage where many people including Sonam Wangchuk were protesting. Rapid Action Force was deployed in the entire area. After this, tension increased further in the city when the protesters led by Abhijeet Deepke tried to move towards the Parliament. The police tried to stop them by placing barricades, but when they did not agree, they resorted to lathicharge and released tear gas shells. Police also used tear gas near Parliament House.
