UPI Offline Payment By Without Internet: A big change can be seen in India towards making digital payments easier. In which it will be beneficial for those people who go to a place where the internet network is weak, then your problem may end soon. It is being told in media reports that National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is working on a new feature with the help of which UPI payment can be made even without internet connection. In such a situation, if this facility is started then the digital payment experience will become easier and faster than before.
Offline payment will be done through NFC technology
Reports have revealed that this new system will be based on Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. NFC is a short-range wireless technology capable of securely and rapidly transferring data over extremely short distances. Through this feature, users will be able to make payments easily by tapping their smartphone on a Point-of-Sale (PoS) terminal with NFC support. The special thing is that transactions will be possible even in the absence of internet. Reports suggest that the maximum limit for offline UPI transactions under this facility can be up to Rs 2,000.
First you will have to add money to UPI Lite wallet.
It is currently being seen whether there will be a necessary condition to use this facility. In which users will have to first add money to UPI Lite digital wallet with the help of internet. After this, offline payments can be made through NFC using the same balance when internet is not available. Reports also claim that there will be no need to enter a UPI PIN during the process, making small payments faster and more convenient than before.
PoS companies will get new certification
It is being told that NPCI can start certification of companies manufacturing PoS devices in the country this year so that their devices can support this new offline UPI technology. This is expected to provide a better digital payment experience to both shopkeepers and customers.
Offline UPI options already exist
But this will not be the first attempt at UPI payment without internet. Even at present, payments can be made without mobile data through services like *99# and UPI 123Pay. The *99# service works on USSD technology and is available in GSM phones where up to Rs 5,000 can be sent at a time. Whereas UPI 123Pay has been developed especially for feature phone users.
At present NPCI has not officially announced this new NFC based offline UPI feature. In such a situation, all the information to the launch will be confirmed only after the official announcement of the company.
