But during investigation, its quantity was found to be extremely high in some necklaces, rings and earrings. The amount of cadmium in some products was reportedly found to be up to 9000 times higher.

A ring was being sold as 925 silver, which was claimed to be 92.5 percent silver. But investigation revealed that a large amount of cadmium was found in it. At the same time, a report came out that cadmium was found thousands of times more than the prescribed limit in a bracelet.

Risk of cancer and organ damage from cadmium

According to health experts, cadmium is a poisonous metal. Prolonged exposure to it can have serious effects on the body. According to the UK Health Security Agency, exposure to high amounts of cadmium can increase the risk of cancer and kidney and liver problems.
