Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge sat on a dharna directly outside the Prime Minister’s residence in protest against the police action against students and the NEET paper leak. The most special thing about this demonstration was that the Congress leaders were wearing symbolic handcuffs in their hands. His direct and sharp allegation was that the present government has tied the future of the promising students of the country in the shackles of corruption and rigging, which the country will no longer tolerate at any cost.

The day of this protest became even more special because Tuesday was the birthday of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Instead of celebrating his birthday, Kharge chose to take to the streets and fight this big battle of the students of the country. Making a direct and sharp attack on the central government, he termed this government as a ‘cowardly dictator’. Kharge said in blunt words that the government will have to respond at any cost to the lathi charge and use of force by the police on the students who were protesting peacefully.

During the dharna, Rahul Gandhi took an aggressive stance and said that this attack on the students is not only an attack on them, but on every poor and middle class family of India who put in their blood and sweat to educate their children. Rahul demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to immediately resign from their posts. While sharing the post on social media, he appealed to the people of the country to come forward to openly support the students in this fight for justice.

Amit Shah’s emergency meeting and next step of the government

In view of the political deadlock and increasing protests, the government immediately took action and took charge. Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh first took cognizance of Rahul Gandhi’s demands. Immediately after this, Home Minister Amit Shah has called a very important and high-level emergency meeting. Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan is also prominently present in this high-level meeting. It is believed that at this time the government can take a big and tough decision to calm the protest of the opposition parties, their sharp demands and the huge dissatisfaction of the students across the country.
