New Delhi. Amidst the ongoing protests in many parts of the country including Jantar Mantar, the party had to take a big step after a video of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) spokesperson Vijeta Dahiya went viral on social media. As the controversy escalated, CJP removed Dahiya from the post of spokesperson with immediate effect and withdrew all his official responsibilities.

Controversy started due to question asked on eating burger

In the viral video, winner Dahiya was questioned about eating burgers during the movement. On this he said that eating burger is his personal decision and he is not obliged to answer to anyone for this. He also said that he is working for the country of his own free will and is not answerable to anyone and termed such questions as unnecessary debates. During the conversation, he also used objectionable words against some critics.
Strong reaction received on social media
As soon as the video surfaced, criticism of Dahiya started on social media. Many people said that when people associated with the movement are continuously protesting and facing police action, then such statements reduce the seriousness of the movement. At the same time, some people called it ignoring the sentiments of the supporters.
The party issued a statement expressing its displeasure
As the controversy escalated, CJP issued an official statement saying that the party strongly condemns the behavior of Vijeta Dahiya. According to the party, the video that surfaced at a time when the organization’s workers and peaceful protesters were facing difficult situations was extremely insensitive.

The behavior was against the principles of the movement
CJP said in its statement that the organization believes in discipline and accountability. The party clarified that Dahiya’s conduct was not in line with the values and principles of the movement. For this reason, along with his removal from the post of spokesperson, he was also relieved from all official responsibilities. After this entire incident, the debate has intensified on social media. One side is calling the party’s decision right, while some people are considering it as a step taken after increasing public pressure.
