“The truth is the pain is impossible to describe,” Martínez said. “There’s a lot to think about — how to move forward, and whether it’s time to step aside.”

Many expected such words to come from Lionel Messi after the final. However, the 39-year-old legend remained silent about his future, while it was Martínez who opened up about the possibility of retirement from international football.
