Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is reportedly weighing up a possible move to Turkish giants Galatasaray during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have been active in recent weeks, with INEOS finalising three new acquisitions as manager Michael Carrick aims to build momentum ahead of the new campaign.
Deals for Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos, and Karl Darlow have already been completed, setting Manchester United up for another season in the UEFA Champions League.
Alongside these additions, United are seeking to strengthen further with a midfielder, a left-winger, and a full-back on their wishlist. However, several departures are also expected, with Fernandes among those attracting attention from overseas clubs.
The Portuguese playmaker has been linked to potential moves abroad since expressing frustration over how he was treated by the club last summer.
Transfer reporter Ben Jacobs stated in late June that Fernandes had informed his teammates he intended to stay at Manchester United for the upcoming season.
Jacobs explained: “Although Fernandes didn’t hold any formal discussions with the club regarding his future before the World Cup, he has already told his teammates and those close to him that he plans to remain.”
He further added: “Club officials at United are not worried about Fernandes’ future despite his appealing release clause. The 31-year-old has one year left on his current deal, with an option for an additional year. His contract also includes a €65 million (£56 million) release clause applicable to non-English clubs.”
Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray, along with several other Turkish clubs, have previously expressed interest in securing Fernandes’ signature, and recent reports suggest that a potential deal could be edging closer.
Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu has revealed that Galatasaray are prioritising the signing of a new number ten this summer, identifying Fernandes as their “dream” target.
Sabuncuoglu, speaking via Haber Sari Kirmizi, said: “Galatasaray are planning a major signing for the number 10 position. They also intend to bring in a left-sided centre-back and a central midfielder. Additionally, if the opportunity arises, a winger could be added as a surprise transfer.”
He further noted that Fernandes would be “open” to making the switch to Galatasaray should the Turkish club be willing to meet Manchester United’s €75 million (£64 million) valuation.
Sabuncuoglu elaborated: “When I said Bruno Fernandes was ‘a dream’, it wasn’t meant negatively. What I meant was that they are asking for a transfer fee in the range of €70-75 million. If Galatasaray agree to pay that figure, Fernandes is open to moving to Türkiye. I have confirmed this information with Manchester United. They might even accept a slightly lower amount than €75 million.”
