Utraula, correspondent. The urea crisis in the area has deepened amid paddy transplantation at the peak of Kharif season. Due to servers being down on resource cooperative societies, farmers are not able to get verified on e-POS machines, due to which they are not getting the prescribed quantity of urea fertilizer. After waiting for hours, the farmers are forced to return empty handed. Farmers say that fertilizer distribution was affected throughout the day due to technical problems at many centers including Bhairampur, Deoria Mainha, Redwalia, Chaidih, Gandas Elder, Chirkutiya, Sugarcane Committee Utraula and Agri Junction Utraula and Bethuiya.

Farmers say that timely application of urea after paddy transplantation is very important for the growth of the crop. If there is a delay, both the growth and yield of the plants can be affected. Due to non-availability of fertilizers from cooperative societies, farmers are turning to private fertilizer shops, but even there there is a problem due to limited stock and long queues. In this period of July, along with urea, farmers also require DAP, NPK, zinc sulphate, micronutrients, herbicides and pesticides. Farmers have demanded from the administration to immediately solve the technical problem of the server and to provide adequate quantity of urea to all the committees, so that the farming of Kharif season is not affected.
