Kolkata (West Bengal) [भारत]July 22 (ANI): Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Monday expressed solidarity with the police action against CJP protesters and the opposition's protests against the government. In an 'X' post, Mamata Banerjee described the incident as 'unacceptable' and said she would extend full support to the opposition in the matter. He further accused the West Bengal government of disrupting TMC's 'Martyrs' Day' programs in Kolkata.
Mamata Banerjee said, "Police atrocities on our youth in Delhi are unacceptable. The central government should be ashamed. All India Trinamool Congress fully supports the protest being held by the opposition today near Akbar Road. We have full solidarity. Last night in Kolkata also police atrocities were committed. BJP goons did everything possible to disrupt the preparations for our Martyrs' Day programme. They came in motorcycle squads, destroyed signage, vandalized the stage and Deliberately cut the microphone wires. Despite all this, our Martyr's Day program was very special, which got the support of our committed grassroots workers. We will take our fight to India unitedly.
Nationwide protest by Congress
Meanwhile, Congress workers and local leaders protested in several states on Tuesday against the detention of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other party leaders in Delhi. He also condemned the police action against CJP workers during the protest on Monday. Protests were held in Thiruvananthapuram, Guwahati, Jabalpur and Bhubaneswar, where Congress workers raised slogans against the Center and accused the government of suppressing democratic protests.

In Thiruvananthapuram, Congress and Kerala Students Union (KSU) workers protested against the detention of Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other Congress leaders in Delhi. KSU state president Aloysius Xavier alleged police action against students protesting for justice and criticized the detention of the Congress delegation.
Xavier said, "The entire student community of the country is fighting for justice for the students who have been brutally attacked by the Delhi Police... The entire Congress and a delegation of MPs led by Rahul Gandhi had gone to express our concerns in front of the Prime Minister's residence. But he was brutally dragged on the road and arrested. This protest will happen across the country."
Protest in Guwahati and Jabalpur also
In Guwahati, Congress leaders and workers held a protest in New Delhi condemning the alleged police lathicharge on students and the subsequent detention of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. Meanwhile, Congress leaders and workers in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur also protested against the detention of party leaders during the LKM protests.
