On Wednesday, Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, announced that over 1.7 billion individuals globally engaged with FIFA World Cup-related videos on YouTube, marking it as the platform's highest viewership for a World Cup event.

In a post shared on X, Pichai highlighted the remarkable engagement levels during the tournament, which pushed the total lifetime views of World Cup content on YouTube to exceed 200 billion. He stated, "The numbers are in: 1.7B+ global viewers tuned in to @YouTube to watch World Cup-related videos during the tournament. It was our most viewed World Cup ever on YouTube, bringing lifetime views of related content to over 200B!"

YouTube's CEO, Neal Mohan, also reported that more than 1.7 billion unique viewers accessed FIFA World Cup content on the platform, contributing to the impressive lifetime views.

Mohan shared significant viewership statistics on X, emphasizing the contributions of creators in engaging football enthusiasts throughout the tournament. Mohan also extended his congratulations to Spain for clinching the FIFA World Cup title and expressed gratitude to YouTube's partners, creators, and staff for enhancing the viewing experience during the tournament.
