The seventh edition of the International Kolkata Short Film Festival (IKSFF) will be held from January 18 to 24, 2027, marking the festival's first-ever seven-day edition. Ahead of the event, the festival has already received more than 250 film submissions from 18 countries, signalling strong global interest as it gears up for its biggest outing yet.

With the Extended Regular Submission phase now open, the organisers have invited filmmakers from across the world to submit their entries for the festival.

For the first time, IKSFF will unfold over seven days, featuring film screenings, masterclasses, workshops, seminars, panel discussions, networking sessions, international screenings, red carpet events and the Grand Awards Ceremony. The festival will also host the second edition of CineBridge, its industry networking platform.

Entries are open across categories including Short Film, Long Short Film, Documentary, Animation, AI Short Film, Environmental Film, Music Video, Advertisement/Commercial Film and Public Service Announcement (PSA). Selected films will compete across more than 40 award categories.

This year's edition will also introduce two new initiatives – ShortFlicks Entertainment Mini Film Contest, dedicated to original films of up to five minutes, and Screen & Speak – a non-competitive showcase designed to facilitate conversations between filmmakers, audiences and industry professionals.

Speaking about the expanded format, festival chairman Sourav Chakraborty said, "Expanding IKSFF into a seven-day festival reflects our vision of creating a stronger ecosystem where filmmakers can learn, collaborate, network and grow. We invite storytellers from across the world to become part of this celebration of creativity."

Festival director Saswati Guha Chakraborty added, "The response from filmmakers worldwide has been truly encouraging. We look forward to welcoming more outstanding films and making IKSFF 2027 our most inclusive and filmmaker-friendly edition yet."
