But offline messaging apps use ‘Bluetooth Low Energy’ technology. It is a wireless technology that is present in almost all modern smartphones. Some of these apps are locally restricted. Again many apps are more widely available.

One of the most popular offline messaging apps is BitChat. Twitter founder Jack Dorsey launched the app in July 2025. The app has been downloaded more than 1 million times on the Google Play Store. There is no need to open an account, phone number or connect to a central server to use this app. Enables messaging via Bluetooth.
