A debate has erupted on social media after the Supreme Court flatly refused to hear immediately the petition to the alleged police action during the students’ protest in Delhi. Meanwhile, Saurav Das has raised sharp questions on the remarks of Chief Justice Surya Kant. However, the Supreme Court has made it clear that it is not interested in watching the video during the hearing and clearly asked the petitioner not to waste time.

Immediately after this hearing of the Supreme Court, a post of Saurav Das started being shared rapidly on social media platforms. In this post he wrote that such people holding such high positions are a big stain on our democracy. Our Supreme Court deserves much better than this. Surya Kant ji should understand that such arrogance is not right at all and the Government of India should make him understand.

Supreme Court refuses to hear students’ petition immediately

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court of the country rejected the demand for urgent hearing on the petition challenging the alleged police action during the students’ protest in the national capital Delhi. The matter was mentioned before a three-member special bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V. Mohana. The petitioner’s lawyer had raised the serious issue of alleged police use of force during the protest on Thursday itself, requesting for early hearing of the case.

On the offer to show the video, the court said- We are not interested in watching it.

During the hearing, the lawyer had offered to show the court video footage of the alleged use of force by the police during the protest. On this, Chief Justice Surya Kant bluntly said that we have no interest in watching this video and we do not have time to watch the video at all. Even when the lawyer insisted again that there was alleged violence against the students and the videos were the main evidence, the court did not change its stand. The Chief Justice made it clear that do not waste your and our time because we do not want to watch any video.

What is this whole matter to the Parliament march of 20th July?

This entire controversial matter is to the ‘Sansad Chalo’ march organized on July 20, the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament. During this march, thousands of students and youth activists from all over the country gathered on the streets of Delhi under the banner of Cockroach Janata Party i.e. CJP. The main demand of all these protesters was that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should immediately resign from his post and after the alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG examination, comprehensive reforms should be carried out on a large scale in the National Testing Agency i.e. NTA.
