Lalit Modi to return to India: Indian Premier League (IPL) founder and first chairman Lalit Modi is going to return to India after 16 years. He himself has announced his return home. Actually, Lalit has got a big relief in the 2009 IPL-South Africa FEMA case. In 2018, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had imposed a fine in the same case. The Appellate Tribunal canceled the fine imposed on him by ED under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators Act (SAFEMA). After getting relief, Lalit Modi has expressed his desire to return to India by sharing a video on social media.

After getting relief from the court, Lalit Modi said, “I am very happy with the verdict yesterday. It has really been a very good day. I fought for 16 years and whatever I had told the media and everyone else has finally proved to be true. I am very happy that the tribunal has ruled in my favor. I was only concerned about the well-being of the IPL and not about anything else. That is the most important thing for me. Now that chapter is behind me, I will move on with my life.” And waiting to return to India. I will probably come back at the end of this year or early next year. My daughter is going to have a son in October and hopefully everything will be fine and I will come back to India.”
