Samsung has entered the AI-powered smart glasses race with the launch of its first Intelligent Eyewear at the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event in London, taking on Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses with a wearable focused on hands-free AI assistance, productivity and everyday use. The company unveiled the device alongside the Galaxy Z Fold8 series and Galaxy Z Flip8.
Developed in partnership with Google, Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, the smart glasses run on the Android XR platform and integrate Gemini AI. Samsung says the device is designed to extend the Galaxy ecosystem beyond smartphones by allowing users to access AI-powered assistance without constantly looking at a screen.
Design
Samsung’s Intelligent Eyewear features a lightweight frame and slim profile for all-day wear. Buyers will be able to choose from multiple frame styles, colours and lens options created by Gentle Monster and Warby Parker.
The Gentle Monster edition comes with a slim black frame featuring a straight upper rim and rounded lower edges, while the Warby Parker version sports a rich brown finish with a subtly upswept brow line for a more classic everyday look.
Specifications
The smart glasses are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 platform and feature a built-in camera, microphones, speakers and touch controls. Samsung claims the wearable delivers up to nine hours of battery life on a single charge, while the charging case provides up to seven additional full charges.
The glasses connect with Galaxy smartphones and use Gemini AI to provide real-time assistance while keeping users hands-free.
AI features
Samsung has packed several AI-powered features into the wearable, including:
- Live translation during conversations
- Reading messages and summarising long notifications
- Navigation and location-based guidance
- Capturing whiteboards, documents and meetings using the built-in camera
- Organising captured information directly into Samsung Notes
- Context-aware AI that remembers previous interactions and suggests relevant follow-up actions
- Live visual sharing during video calls through a first-person point of view
Voice commands and gesture controls allow users to interact with the device without taking out their smartphone. Samsung also said privacy safeguards, including visible recording indicators and security protections, have been built into the wearable.
Price and availability
Samsung showcased the Intelligent Eyewear at Galaxy Unpacked but did not announce its official price.
The company also stopped short of confirming a global release date, saying the smart glasses will launch later this year in select markets. More details on pricing and availability are expected closer to launch.
