Currently positioned at No. 2 in the ICC T20I batter rankings, Abhishek needs just 16 runs to achieve 6,000 runs in T20 cricket, making him the fourth Indian to do so in 200 innings or fewer, following KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, and Shubman Gill.
Just 16 Runs Away from a Major Achievement
As of now, Abhishek has accumulated 5,984 runs in 203 T20 matches, spanning 199 innings. Out of these, he has played 53 matches for the Indian national team, including six against Zimbabwe. KL Rahul holds the record for the quickest Indian to reach 6,000 T20 runs, achieving this in just 166 innings. Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli follow closely behind, reaching the milestone in 185 and 184 innings, respectively. The world record for the fastest player to hit 6,000 T20 runs is held by West Indies legend Chris Gayle, who accomplished this in a mere 162 innings. Abhishek Sharma is currently India's leading run-scorer in T20Is against Zimbabwe, having scored 179 runs in six encounters. He also has the opportunity to become the top run-scorer in T20Is between India and Zimbabwe during this match. To surpass Zimbabwe's captain Sikandar Raza, Abhishek must score at least 16 runs more than him in the game.
