Six months after the demise of Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, wife Sunetra Pawar unveiled a statue on his birth anniversary in Baramati. On this occasion, a photo exhibition on his life was also organized. Sunetra paid tribute to her husband.

Nearly six months after Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash, his wife and successor, Deputy CM Sunetra Pawar, unveiled a life-size statue of the late leader in Baramati on his birth anniversary on Thursday. On this occasion, Natraj Kala Mandal also organized an exhibition displaying photographs from the life and career of Ajit Pawar.

Sunetra Pawar paid tribute on social media

Sunetra Pawar, who took over as deputy chief minister after her husband's sudden demise in January this year, paid tribute to him at his memorial site earlier in the day. He said on X, "Today, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of respected late Ajitdada, I paid floral tributes at his memorial site and paid my humble tributes. Although Dada is not with us today, his thoughts, enthusiasm for public service and legacy of development will always inspire us. Following the path shown by him, my resolve to work for the welfare of the people has become even stronger. My humble homage to the sacred memories of Ajitdada!" Died in a plane crash in January

Ajit Pawar died on the morning of January 28 when a Learjet 45 aircraft (VT-SSK) carrying him crash-landed while trying to land at Baramati airport in Pune district. The aircraft crashed near the runway threshold, killing all five on board. The dead included Pawar, his personal security officer, a flight attendant and two pilots. He was going from Mumbai to Baramati to campaign for the District Panchayat elections.

Ajit Pawar, the longest serving Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, was one of the most prominent leaders of the state. He served in this post for six terms in different governments. He served as Deputy Chief Minister in the cabinets of Prithviraj Chavan, Devendra Fadnavis, Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde. (ANI)
