Ayodhya: The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has postponed the appointment of the Ram Temple’s first Chief Executive Officer by a month after receiving an unexpectedly large number of applications.

Nearly 5,200 people applied for the high-profile position during the Trust’s nationwide recruitment drive. The decision to extend the selection process was taken at a meeting held in Ayodhya on July 22.

Selection Panel Seeks More Time

A three-member committee constituted to review the applications informed the Trust that it needed additional time to examine the candidates’ qualifications and experience.

The Trust accepted the request, allowing the panel to continue the scrutiny process before submitting its final recommendation. The appointment had been expected earlier, but the final decision will now be taken after a more detailed evaluation.

The Trust’s next meeting is scheduled for September 2.

What Will the Ram Temple CEO Do?

The selected CEO will oversee the administration and daily functioning of the Ram Temple complex in Ayodhya.

The role will involve managing large-scale operations, coordinating departments and ensuring that services for millions of devotees are conducted efficiently. The CEO will also be expected to introduce institutional safeguards and maintain public confidence in the Trust’s functioning.

Strict Eligibility Rules for Applicants

Applicants for the post must be Indian citizens and fluent in both Hindi and English. They are also required to possess significant administrative and managerial experience.

This will be the first formal CEO appointment since the Trust was established to oversee the construction and management of the Ram Temple.

Three Trustee Appointments Also Postponed

The Trust also deferred the induction of three new trustees. Officials decided that additional deliberation was required before filling the vacant positions.

Instead, the meeting focused heavily on strengthening the religious and spiritual administration of the temple.

Nine-Member Saints’ Committee Approved

The Trust approved the formation of a nine-member committee comprising prominent saints and seers from Ayodhya.

The panel will advise the Trust on rituals, religious traditions and spiritual matters connected with the temple. An official spokesperson will also be appointed to communicate the Trust’s decisions and activities more effectively.
