Balrampur. Under the National Livestock Control Programme, the FMD (Foot and Mouth Disease) free vaccination campaign was started in the district from Wednesday. In a program organized in Tehsil Tulsipur, Mahant of Devipatan Temple Shri Mithilesh Nath Yogi, District Magistrate Dr. Vipin Kumar Jain and Chief Development Officer Himanshu Gupta started the campaign by flagging off the vaccination vehicles.

During this special campaign, which will run from July 22 to August 7, about 1 lakh 97 thousand cattle and Mahish animals of the district will be vaccinated free of cost. The objective of the campaign is to protect animals from infectious diseases like Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), increase livestock productivity and strengthen the income and livelihood of livestock farmers.

After the launch of the campaign, District Magistrate Dr. Vipin Kumar Jain held a meeting with the officials and reviewed the preparations and action plan. He said that this campaign is very important from the point of view of livestock conservation, hence it should be conducted with full seriousness, transparency and time bound manner. He directed that no eligible animal in the district should be deprived of vaccination.

The Chief Veterinary Officer said that during the campaign, geo-tagged photos of each vaccination will be taken and immediately uploaded on the Pashudhan App, which will ensure online monitoring and transparency. The DM directed to set area-wise targets for all the vaccination teams, reach villages on time and conduct 100% vaccination and make cattle herders aware of the importance of timely vaccination and prevention of FMD disease. He also stressed on ensuring regular monitoring of the campaign. Officers and employees of the Animal Husbandry Department and other concerned officers including the Chief Veterinary Officer were present in the program.
