Mumbai. Sensex and Nifty fell in early trade on Thursday due to sharp rise in crude oil prices amid rising tensions in West Asia. BSE Sensex fell 230.95 points to 76,521.02 in early trade, while NSE Nifty slipped 57.15 points to 23,937. Among the 30 companies included in the Sensex, shares of Infosys, Bajaj Finance, HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, NTPC and Reliance Industries were the biggest losers. At the same time, shares of Trent and Eternal registered a rise.
Mixed trend in Asian markets
In Asian markets, South Korea’s Kospi rose 3.15 percent. Japan’s Nikkei 225 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng are also trading with gains, while China’s SSE Composite Index is in decline. American stock markets closed with a decline on Wednesday.
Crude oil prices rise
The price of international standard Brent crude rose by 2.27 percent to reach $ 96.20 per barrel. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers on Wednesday and sold shares worth Rs 819.20 crore. BSE Sensex closed with a fall of 0.92 percent and NSE Nifty with a fall of 0.79 percent on Wednesday.
