New Delhi . The three-match T20 series between India and Zimbabwe will begin at Harare Sports Club on Thursday. Just a few days after the conclusion of the England tour, the Indian team is once again entering international cricket. This time many young players have been given a chance in the team, while the return of some experienced faces is also considered certain. In such a situation, everyone’s eyes are on the playing eleven and new combination of the first match.
For the Indian team, this series is not limited to just winning, but will also be an important test of the performance of many players. Captain Shreyas Iyer has not been able to win consecutive T20 matches and hence his captaincy on this tour has also become a topic of discussion. The team management wants to prepare a strong combination for the upcoming big tournaments through this series.
The biggest attraction of this tour is 15-year-old batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He could not perform as expected on the England tour, but the Harare ground is considered special for him. It was on this ground that he made headlines by playing memorable innings at the Under-19 level. Now once again he is expected to bat fast and aggressively. The young batsman will have a golden opportunity to prove himself.
Rinku Singh’s return to Team India’s batting is considered almost certain. His presence in the middle order will strengthen the team. Whereas players like Ishan Kishan, Tilak Verma, Shivam Dubey and Abhishek Sharma will provide balance to the batting order. The selectors are also eyeing to give opportunities to young players at the international level, due to which new faces can be seen in the playing eleven.
There is a possibility of change in the bowling department also. Along with fast bowlers Ashok Sharma and Yash Thakur, left-arm spin all-rounder Harsh Dubey may get a chance to debut in T20 international cricket. Mayank Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi are also in the race for the playing eleven. If the team management shows confidence in the young players, then the debut of three players can be seen in the very first match.
On the other hand, Zimbabwe team will also take the field with changes. Despite recently losing the home series against Bangladesh, the team will try to take full advantage of its home conditions. Under the leadership of captain Sikandar Raza, players like Brian Bennett, Ryan Burl, Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarwa can present a challenge for India. However, continuous errors in fielding remain a concern for the host team.
The Harare Sports Club pitch is likely to help the fast bowlers in the initial overs. It has not been easy for the batsmen to score runs here in recent matches. According to the Meteorological Department, there is no possibility of rain during the match and the temperature is also expected to be normal, due to which the entire match is likely to be completed without any interruption.
